Bob

We are VERY happy to annouce that Bob Hope was adopted by Barbara and Victor after fostering him for the past few months.

He is in great health, has slimmed down nicely and has increased mobility. He is a wonderful addition to the family which also: Elvis (Black lab), Bay (Yellow lab) and Sam (shepherd/pit mix).

We took Bob in at the end of December to find him a home. He was a stray who ended up in a pound in another state and was going to be euthanized. Although we are not in the business of rescuing and adopting out dogs through Wags, we saw his picture, fell in love, and decided to foster him and find him a new home.

Bob is an 8-10 year old purebred black lab male. You have never met a dog with a temperament as amazing and laid-back as Bob. Nothing bothers Bob - he does great with every dog, every human, every cat and every situation we have thrown at him! This is a very special boy - calm, social, and extremely affectionate. Bob is always happy. He is very "go with the flow" and will be just as happy to spend the day napping with you as going out exploring somewhere on a walk.

Bob was quite overweight when we got him, but he has now lost about 20 pounds. He has some arthritis in his back end; these two issues means it takes him a minute to stand up from from a sitting position, and he shies away from stairs and won't jump into a high car by himself (although he is a great car passenger once you get him in!) The vet feels that his agility will improve greatly as he loses weight. With his strict diet we have already seen some improvement.

As far as other health issues, Bob does have some special needs. We have had several lumps and bumps removed from him; one was found to be malignant on his foot but the others benign. He also has tested positive for heartworm but due to his age will just be treated with monthly heartworm preventative to keep the disease from progressing. We are confident that this condition will not worsen his quality of life or longevity as long as it kept under control with the monthly dose of preventative.

Bob will integrate immediately to almost any household. We're looking for the perfect home for him; please let us know if you are interested in meeting him!
